Emirates vs flydubai requirements comparedEmirates vs flydubai requirements compared

Emirates and flydubai are both Dubai-based, which leads some candidates to assume their requirements match. They do not. This comparison uses the criteria we last verified on 12 September 2026. Skywing is independent and not affiliated with either airline.

Side by side

• Minimum age: 21 at Emirates; 21 at flydubai.
• Minimum height: 160 cm at Emirates; 158 cm at flydubai.
• Arm reach: 212 cm at Emirates; no reach requirement in the flydubai criteria we verified.
• Experience: 1 year of hospitality or customer-service experience at Emirates; one year of customer-service experience at flydubai.
• Education: at least Grade 12 or high-school education at Emirates; a high-school diploma or equivalent at flydubai.
• English: fluent written and spoken English at both.
• Tattoos: no visible tattoos in uniform at both.
• Swimming: a requirement at flydubai (confidence in water with a flotation aid or life jacket); not in the Emirates criteria we verified.
• Passport: flydubai lists a valid passport; our Emirates profile asks you to prepare a passport copy in PDF for the application.
• Relocation and visa: flydubai lists willingness to relocate to Dubai; Emirates needs UAE employment-visa eligibility, which can need human verification if you are unsure.
• Medical: flydubai requires an aero-medical examination, which Skywing’s diagnosis cannot certify.

What it means for you

• If you meet one set, you do not automatically meet the other. A candidate at 158 cm meets the flydubai height figure but not Emirates’.
• Applications differ too. Emirates asks for questions on uniform, shifts, alcohol and water; flydubai’s role questions can change and an online assessment and video interview may be part of its process.
• Keep every detail accurate for each application. Heights, dates and experience must match across your CV, documents and each portal.
